Hope Reiners (she/her) and Lona Williams (she/her) have a shared belief that every companion animal deserves a safe and loving home. It's this belief that became MODERNBEAST's mission: to create a company that would give back 100% to animals.
What inspired MODERNBEAST?
It was originally Lona’s idea. We met at a charity event for Best Friends Animal Society and bonded over our love of dogs. It was there that she told me about a pet product line she had been working on that would essentially mimic Newman’s Own... where all of the profits go back to a charity.
How would you describe MODERNBEAST to a friend?
We create contemporary toys, apparel and home goods for dogs and cats with a refined sense of adventure and an eye for design.
Inspired by our own beasts, we proudly design and manufacture our products using only the highest quality materials available. While we work to manufacture our entire line in Southern California, a selection of our wool products are hand felted in Nepal.
Our thoughtfully designed products celebrate the bond between guardian and beast. And the best part? 100% of MODERNBEAST profits go back to animals in need. What does that mean? After our cost of doing business, our profit (100% of it) goes to 501(c)3 animal welfare organizations to help with the incredible work they do every single day.
What are your individual core values?
Sustainability, supporting animals, and making an impact.
How do your friends describe you?
We both get described as creative, adventurous, and of course, dog-friendly!
How do you want to be remembered?
We started MODERNBEAST because of our shared belief that that every companion animal deserves a safe and loving home. We hope our brand is remembered for the impact we made on the lives of animals.
